Decorative Cloth. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Original purple cloth with gilt lettering on boards, no DJ. Covers faded and soiled. Several pages re-attached. Interior clean and easily readable. Lectures titled "Cromwell and the Ironsides", "Cobden and the Corn Laws", and "Havelock and the March to Lucknow" were given at the Mechanic's Institute (later the New Brunswick Museum) in the three winters previous, while the lecture on the Reformation was given before the Young People's Institute. Rev. Lathern performed a marriage at Exmouth St. parsonage in Saint John in 1861, and another in Fredericton in 1867, which leads me to believe that he was called back to Saint John for these lectures after having been transferred to Fredericton. A bit of Methodist, United Church, and Saint John history, as well as that of the lecture subjects. 106 pp. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
