Lucas, with illustrations throughout. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. A collection of children's tales selected and arranged by E. V. Lucas, including The History of Little Jack by Thomas Day, The Purple Jar by Maria Edgeworth, and The Sea Voyage by Charles Lamb, among others. E V. Lucas (1868-1938) was an English humorist, writer and editor, who wrote for the Punch magazine. Illustrated with a engraved colour title page and plates by F. D. Bedford. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally fairly smart, with just some small marks to the boards. Front hinge is slightly strained but is held firmly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for offsetting to the end papers and the odd spot to the first and last couple of pages. The headpiece to the introduction has been neatly coloured in. Very Good. book.
