Illustrated with four tissue-guarded original etchings by Jean Jansem, this striking edition of Jules Laforgue's "L'Imitati…on de Notre-Dame la Lune" (The Imitation of Our Lady the Moon) (1885), is a collection of 22 poems dedicated to Gustave Kahn and "to the memory of little Salammbô, priestess of Tanit". Limitation page signed by Jansem, and by the President and Vice-President of the société de femmes bibliophiles "Les Cent-Une." One of 122 copies on vélin d'Arches, of which this is No. LIX (59). Slipcase, chemise, wrappers and interior in overall very good condition. About the artist: Hovhannes "Jean" Semerdjian (1920-2013), also known as Jean Jansem, was a French-Armenian painter. Jansem's artworks are internationally known, and are part of museum collections throughout France, Japan and the United States. He was awarded by the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1953 and by the Knight of the French Legion of Honor in 2003. The President of Armenia awarded Jansem a Medal of Honor for his "reinforcement of Armenian-French cultural ties.". Signed.
