In-4° piccolo (19.5x13.5) in solida legatura mezza tela ottocentesca con titoli dorati su tassello al dorso, piatti rivestiti carta marmorizzata e tagli spruzzati. Pp (8), 336, fregio tipografico al frontespizio, testate incise. Ottimo esemplare. Non comune raccolta di orazioni volgari non sacre de moderni eloquenti come annunci…a nella nota al lettore il prefatore anonimo ma presumibilmente G. Gabardi (cfr. Melzi G., Anonime e pseudonime: v. 3 p. 36). Quest'ultimo sostiene di voler proseguire la tradizione umanistica e secentesca - non a caso l'anonimo Amico dell'Eloquenza cui il prefatore si rivolge lo definisce uomo con pensiero da cinquecento e da Aldo - ovvero di voler colmare una grave lacuna che non si presenta invece nelle altre branche delle lettere settecentesche (poesia profana, sacra, scienze etc.). Il florilegio è composto 12 orazioni dei seguenti autori che rappresentano quasi ogni declinazione regionale della lingua volgare: Carlo Sanseverino, Domenico Fabri, Francesco Maria Zanotti, Alessandro Fabri, Antonio Monti, Giambattista Roberti, Lodovico Preti, Flaminio Scarselli e Giovanni Granelli.
