New Guinea was Australia's front line against the Japanese in WWII and aircraft of the RAAF played an important part in operations against them. This is a fictious account of the operations of a RAAF Beaufighter squadron flying over mountanious, unfriendly country, on oversea missions against shipping and living in conditions that had none of the comforts of home. Although a novel its dedication "To the boys of New Guinea Beaufighter Squadron who made this book possible" suggests that it is an accurate portrayal. 255 pages, blue hard covers with black front border/spine titles VG with light soiling to front, spine sunned also partially on back board, light wear lower edges, spine base. Ink gift insc top FFEP dated 1943, few marks RFEP, text block otherwise VG.

Unpaginated, original wrappers a little soiled and worn, page edges browned throughout, upper hinge coming away slightly, paperback, a sound secondhand copy. Adventure novel set in Japan.

A somewhat uncommon item for which careful reading is suggested, unless it's going straight into that spot in your collection currently reserved for it (or until you can spring financing for a closer-to-pristine copy).
