Frontispiece. 18mo, signed in 6s. 5-3/8" x 3-1/4" This children's tale first published by Newbery in 1798; this particular edition's claim to fame results from being an early imprint from the printshop of the distinguished early 19th C. lady printer, Lydia Bailey. Cf. Nipps, LYDIA BAILEY A Ch…ecklist of Her Imprints [2013] for more on this remarkable woman. Minor wear. Front paste-down never attached to front board, so now acts as ffep & reveals binding technique underneath. A solid VG copy. Period drab paper boards, with front board professionally reattached. Speckled edges 1st printing thus (American Imprints 15353; Nipps 7; Rosenbach 370; Welch 723.4).
