Original printed wrappers (produced using acidic paper) now a little worn, chipped and torn, with most edges reinforced on the verso with strips of paper; short title and author's name in ink along the spine; wrappers and adjacent leaves tanned; a few tiny closed edge tears internally; regular pencilled emphases and occasional annotations; a few other minor signs of age and handling; overall, a very good copy. A presentation copy, inscribed and signed by the author at the head of the front wrapper ('Hans Mincham, with kind regards, Keith C. McKeown'). The Australian Museum, Sydney, Memoir X; the subject is Longhorn beetles. The recipient of this copy was Hans Mincham AM (1912-2007), 'educator, naturalist, writer, historian, conservationist, musician'. His obituary in the Adelaide newspaper 'The Advertiser' notes that at the age of 12, 'his observations of a rare insect, the mantispid, launched him on a 60-year journey of research and discovery, culminating in a scientific article in "The Naturalist" in his 81st year. He engaged in many expeditions into the inland, one in 1956-57 to the Ediacara area, yielding significant finds of pre-Cambrian fossils, one of which was named after him - "Parvancorina minchami". Two bugs and a beetle also carry his name .'. Signed.…
