The league became the third hockey league for Southeastern Manitoba hockey fans and was to be the only one which would continue to operate for the next 27 seasons. The HTHL was organized to provide an outlet for local hockey players and that local-only rule was steadfastly followed through every season. The Hanover Tache Hockey League also provided a stepping stone for its young players and many went on from league play to junior hockey; semi-pro hockey, hockey in Europe and in a couple of instances the World Hockey Association and the National Hockey League. The HTHL also provided a competitive community league to play in for returning hockey players. Those who had taken their best shot at the big time and now were returning to the communities where they grew up to live, work and raise their families. The HTHL is much more than just a hockey league though and the rivalries created on the ice between community hockey teams often carried over into summer sports as well. The HTHL Story covers the personalities, the accomplishments, the problems and the sometimes unique manner in which problems were solved.
