Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good-. No Dust Jacket. This book has no publisher or date, however the binding is identical to the types of bindings that David C. Cook publishers of Elgin, Illinois used in their books. The is a small owner name noted on the end paper dated 1923. Since David Cook did publish this book, I am assuming this is a variant edition of the book issued without a publisher's note or page. I believe this book was first published in 1881. Does not appear to be missing any pages, but begins (after the first blank fly leaf) with the first page of the story which includes the title. Short tear to first fly leaf and a tiny tear to edge of page 10. Covers are origina gray-blue cloth with gilt spine lettering and gray corner tips over brown marbled cover. A little shelf wear to covers, but not too significant. Also includes a short story "Sissy" by J. L. Barbour in the rear. A nice clean, tight and unmarked book. (Photo is lighter blue than actual cloth which is gray-blue) ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 96 pages.…

Mabie and Kate Stephens, first published in 1906, is a collection of biographical stories about notable women from history.
