Die pol-nische Justiz hat jedoch keinerlei organisatorische Verbindung herstellen können. Im ersten Prozeß saßen zwei junge Akademiker auf der Anklagebank, Karol Modzelewski und Jacek Kuron. Modzelewski ist der Sohn eines alten verstorbenen Kommunistenführers, der der erste Außenminister der Volksrepublik Polen bei ihrer Gründung war. Karol Modzelewski war einer der Führer der akademischen Jugend Warschaus im Oktober 1956. Später leitete er einen Diskussionszirkel in der Universität, wo er offen seine kritischen Ansichten über die Politik der Partei und des Staates aussprach. Kuron ist ebenfalls der Sohn eines alten Kommunisten. Modzelewski wurde zu dreieinhalb, Kuron zu drei Jahren Gefängnis verurteilt. [] Der "Offene Brief von Modzelewski und Kuron wurde Anfang des Jahres 1965 geschrieben. Kein Leser kann unbeeindruckt bleiben von seinem in vieler Hinsicht außergewöhnlichen Wert. Zunächst handelt es sich dabei um das erste revolutionäre marxistische Dokument aus einem Arbeiterstaat, seit die linke Opposition vernichtet und Trotzki ermor-det wurde. Das allein schon genügte, dem Dokument großen historischen Wert zu verleihen. Aber es bezeugt darüber hinaus die äußerst hohe marxistische Bildung seiner Autoren und ihre Fähigkeit, eine genaue Analyse der polnischen Gesellschaft durchzuführen und unter den schweren Bedingungen, unter denen sie lebten, ein gültiges Programm für eine wahrhaft revolutionäre Partei der polnischen Arbeiterklasse zu formulieren. Auf der Grundlage der offiziellen Statistiken erstellen sie das wahrheitsgetreue Bild der Bedingungen, unter denen Arbeiter, Bauern, Techniker etc. seit der Gründung des neuen Polen leben. Auf diesen sehr wichtigen Abschnitt des Dokumentes soll in der Einführung nicht weiter eingegangen werden. Erwähnen wir nur, daß die Autoren mit Nachdruck die Tatsache hervorheben, daß die Stabilisierung, die ziemlich bald auf den polnischen Oktober 1956 folgte, dank der in den vorhergegangenen Jahren angelegten ökonomischen Reserven ermöglicht wurde, daß die Auswirkungen der durch den Oktober 1956 gebrachten Veränderungen heute erschöpft sind, und daß von nun an neue Reformen von schwachem Nutzen seien. In diesem Punkt treffen sie sich mit den Ergebnissen, zu denen die IV. Internationale gelangt war, als sie nach dem 23.
