It corresponds to the collection known in English as Night Shift, King's first gathering of short stories, originally issued in 1978. The volume assembles tales of horror and the uncanny drawn from the early years of King's career, several of which later served as source material for film and television adaptations. The German edition presents the stories in translation, framed as a survey of the author's shorter work.
