Daisy Karam-Read graduated from Queens College in New York with…a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts and worked as an actress for several years in New York, Los Angeles, and Munich. In January 2002, she graduated from Tulane University with a master's degree in Cultural Management, with an emphasis on art history. It s not enough to approach relocation with an open mind. You have to have an open heart, says Daisy Karam-Read, the New Yorker who moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and fell in love with the region and its people. The author shares her observations of life in the Magnolia State and demonstrates a deepening understanding of its culture. After losing her home in Hurricane Katrina, which she describes in her book, Karam-Read vowed she'd never return to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
