A socio-pragmatic approach is adopted in this study and by using semi-structured interviews to collect data from 80 participants in English Department, College of Education for Humanities, University of Mosul. The selection of the participants is done through four variables namely: age, gender, educational status and marital status. In this study, two theoretical framework are selected as a model of analysis namely the communication accommodation theory and the power and solidarity theory of Brown and Gilman. The study finds that the age and family status are the most effective determiners of address choice in Mosul society.Language is the main way for exchanging information and knowledge. In addition, it shows individuals' identities, cultures, relationships and preferences to become closer or distant from each other. The way people open and end conversation, and address one another in a given situation are significant in the study of communication. Address forms are not neutral in communication. They convey attitudes and feelings; the choice of these terms is based on the way interlocutors evaluate communication situation. The choice of address terms reveals the social relationship between the addresser and the addressee. Meanwhile, it represents the social characteristics of speaker. Every time one person speaks to another, there is created a host of options centering around whether and how persons will be addressed or named. By now, still there are many unanswered questions about address terms, since address terms are as complicated as the society itself. The main issues are how people address each other and how distinct forms like personal names, family names, pronouns, titles, nicknames are used to address.…

The naturalistic observation method is the method used to collect data from 10 doctors and 38 patients in different public and private medical settings. The study hypothesizes that doctors adopt a paternalistic model of interaction. The study finds that doctors exercise power when they interact with their patients as that most doctors adopt a paternalistic model of interaction, in which the doctor dominates the medical encounter. More academic research in this area is needed to be able to understand power and its impact on society in general and in medical settings in particular.…

Presumably compiled by Georges Pluvinet, the auto mechanic accompanying the mission; complete with his letter of recommendation signed by the Prince, and his passport for Syria and Lebanon stamped by the Egyptian Consulate in Paris and upon entering Egypt. - The bulk of the nearly 400 photographs consists of impressive images of the Citroën Kegresse autochinelle fleet carefully manoevering difficult terrain, first in the snowy Alps on their way to Marseille, later on the Gilf Kebir, crossing water and getting stuck in the sands, but also speeding through the desert heavily loaded with equipment. Shots of each of the nine half-track vehicles with their drivers and cargo, resembling portraits, cover an entire page, reinforcing the suggestion that it was the mechanic who took and assembled the pictures. Further, the expedition crew is depicted aboard the steamer from Marseille to Cairo, driving, pushing, or posing next to their vehicles, setting up tents and equipment, enjoying a desert picnic or playing with monkeys and foxes. Port and city views of Cairo, shots of the pyramids and the Great Sphinx, camels, bedouins, rock paintings, and an "Egyptian beauty" - a veiled woman - complete the collection.
