Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Juvenal. Woman a Satire from the Latin of Juvenal. NY: Rarity Press, 1932, 1st. edition, 95 pp. *** Juvenal liked women OK, just not wives. In this satirical work he found wives to be idle, stupid, deceitful, cruel, selfish, and licentious. There was no social media in his times, so he did not get canceled for this work. Introduction by F. A. Wright. Frontis. and seven (7) collotype plate illustrations by R. B. Brook-Greaves. The writing style is poetical, which was very fashionable then. The original color illustrated dust jacket by Brook-Greaves (not price clipped) is in a clear protective cover. This book is in my inventory and the images are of this particular item. *** Bound in plum cloth boards and spine with small silver illustration on front cover. Covers are clean with very light wear. Jacket has light soil, moderate chipping at spine ends and at corners, some rubbing along folds. The contents are clean and complete in a good binding. VG+ in G dust jacket. *** 9.5 inches tall by 6.5 inches. R. B. Brook-Greaves (illustrator).
