Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has similar tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Original publisherÕs cloth binding in red, lettered gilt with a romantic-style embossed illustration of a woman reading a book and a trail of foliage. Period advertisements add graphic interest with a publisher's list of 'Popular Illustrated Books Specially Suitable for Sunday School Prizes and Libraries.' Very good. Slight tanning at spine. Covers slightly used.

Spine starting in two places, but still a solid copy.
