P.A.S., Paris, 14 avril 1842, 1p 1/4 in-4. Exceptionnel document révélant l'union des opposants à Louis-Philippe et leur engagement à « ne point rendre compte des séances de la chambre des pairs ». Cette fait suite à certains journaux qui n'ont pas respecté leur engagement. Les journaliste de La Quotidienne (journal légitimiste) écrivent donc cette lettre d'information, probablement destinée à circuler entre les journaux. Elle est écrite et signée par Lostanges, contresignée par ses associés Blosseville et Laurentie. Le réacteur en chef du National, Armand Marrast, affirme avoir été fidèle à sa promesse et le rester à l'avenir. Les journalistes du Journal du Peuple, Godefroi Cavaignac et Félix Avril, font de même. Lubis, pour La France, admet n'avoir pas respecté entièrement l'engagement puisque, sans avoir rendu compte des séances, ils ont rapporté certains discours. La presse politique de l'époque, d'opposition évidemment, s'était unie pour ignorer les séances de la chambre des pairs, considérée comme une institution superflue et aux ordres du régime. En effet, après la révolution de 1830, nombre de paix légitimistes l'ont quittée, l'hérédité a disparu et la sociologie a évolué à l'image de la monarchie bourgeoise. On joint un second document, signé J. Guyet, pour Le Courrier français et en l'absence de Louis-Edouard Valentin de La Pelouze (1804-?), affirmant avoir « regardé cet engagement comme légèrement pris ». Rappelons que, à cette époque, les légitimistes, pourtant très forts et actifs - notamment dans les journaux-, sont marginalisés à l'assemblée et les doctrinaires (les plus proches de Louis-Philippe) ne sont pas majorité à l'Assemblée mais gouvernent néanmoins. Peu de temps après, le 16 juin 1842, Louis-Philippe dissoudra l'Assemblée et réussit à y obtenir la majorité absolu, faisant même disparaître les légitimistes. Superbe document. [531].
