Dr. O'Dea leaves no grey areas in his view of sport--all sport-as the pursuit of excellence. As he sees it, sport is not an adversarial confrontation. Luck and extrinsic factors often influence the outcome but on the mean it is the triumph of excellence which wins the gold.
