Offering this illustrated copy of "Civil War Tokens and Tradesmen's Store Cards" A Tentative List of the Civil War Tokens, and Store Cards Issued by the Merchants of the United States, and Used as Money during the Period from 1861 to 1864," by George Hetrich and Julius Guttag, with a supplement by Joseph Baret. Stow, Mass.: Alfred D. Hoch, Publisher, 1968, 3rd edition. Tan cloth hardcover with original dust jacket, pp. 322, 16 full-page photo plates in b/w by Edgar H. Adams. This numismatic reference describes some 7000 odd varieties of Civil War tokens, both of the "Patriotic" type with slogans characteristic of the Northern sentiment and the "Tradesmen's" store card type which used many of the same dies but bore the merchant's own advertising legend. Overall condition is Very Good. Binding is secure. Jacket is in Good condition, intact but with fading and some chipping and loss at the corners and edges. Mild age toning to text block, mostly to page edges, as pages themselves are clean, bright and unmarked. A nice solid copy! [B5]. Edgar H. Adams (Photographer) (illustrator).…
