Academic Journal Offprint reprinted from Field Studies Vol. 2, No. 3 (July, 1966 pages 303 to 330); green card covers with green cloth spine; The Dale district while not as rich as some more southerly localities, provides in a limited area a number of easily accessible shores whose range of environmental conditions ensures the presence of a varied algal flora. The authors have become familiar with these shores during a number of visits since Dale Fort Field Centre opened in I947. The local algae have also received attention from numerous other botanists including those who, in I953, attended the field meeting of the British Phycological Society held at the Fort. A list of species has been built up which is now longer than it was when Miss E. Mary Thomas (I953) produced the preliminary list which has proved of much value to students of marine biology at Dale. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 28 pages. Item Type: Booklet. No Dust Jacket as published. Black titles front. illustrated by b/w. maps & diagrams. Includes references. Quantity Available: 1. Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Reprint. Signed by Author. Academic Journal Offprint printed (in advance) for Field Studies Vol. 1, No. 4 (1962) with altered pagination orange card covers with orange cloth spine; signed with "Best wishes" on the front cover by the author. This key is developed from one used on various courses at the Marine Biology Station, Menai Bridge and at Dale Fort Field Centre. This was based on the excellent key in Knight and Parke's Manx Algae (1931), which was modified by the inclusion of genera not found on the Isle of Man and by the addition of a key to the Cyanophyceae. The key has been further modified in the light of experience gained during these courses and expanded to include all the genera in Parke's Check List (1953) and the later amendments (Parke 1956, -57, -59), apart from a few minor- exceptions and with the major change that the classification of Drouet and Daily (1956) has been adopted for the non-filamentous Cyanophyceae. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 32 pages. Item Type: Booklet. No Dust Jacket as published. Black titles front. illustrated by b/w. drawings. Includes references. Quantity Available: 1.
