John Ward's Information Relative to New‑Zealand is one of the earliest promotional and informational guides produced for prospective emigrants to the planned settlements of the… New Zealand Company. The 1840 edition is the second, corrected and enlarged version, expanding on the 1839 first edition. It was intended to give British settlers a clear sense of the country's geography, climate, natural resources, Maori society, and the Company's colonisation scheme.
