The spine is faded with a handwritten title. [vii] & 147 pages. Illustrated with numerous tables. Small stickers have been mounted on the front edges of 2 pages with pencil notations to one of the pages. A previous owner's initials have been stamped on the front endpaper. The book is lightly cracked at page 80. Good.

In very good condition. Rubber stamped on front cover "Engineering Reading Room Jul 27 Rec". Bottom of binding is split, but is otherwise secure. Pages are clean and unmarked. Diagrams as well as black and white illustrations provide supplementary information to each section (for example: a couple figures show sheave arrangement and traction rope). Headings range from Aerial Wire Rope Conveyors to Information on Incline Planes. A reference table that covers diameter, strength and weight of ropes is located on the last two pages. Types of ropes, which ones you should use, and the effects of different attributes upon the ropes (such as groove design) are all included.
