Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an anthology of 21 of the author's carefully selected poems exploring profound moments in English history from 1641 to 1660, an era profoundly shaped by civil war. These moments present insights into the nature of loyalty, grief, sacrifice, and martyrdom as well as detailing the religious and political divisions of the time. The poems are grouped under 10 subject headings, including: Civil War, Ladies of the Cavalier, and Royal Martyrdom, encapsulating great events through the eyes of the people who lived through them. While stylistically they draw inspiration from the language, rhyme, and stanzas of the Metaphysical poets of the 17th century, they possess a unique, timeless appeal that will resonate with any reader interested in the human condition. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. …
