Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This volume presents a compilation of essays and sketches initially published in The Critic. The author firmly believed that some were of enduring literary value and thus warranted a format more permanent than a fortnightly review. The essays in this collection cover a wide range of to…pics such as philosophy, literature, culture, politics, history, and biography. The author explores transcendentalism, delves into the life and work of Henry Thoreau, examines the works of William Blake, discusses the impact of the telegraph and the railroad, and provides insight into the American Civil War. Whether discussing the works of Emerson, Carlyle, or Longfellow, the author offers unique perspectives that shed new light on these influential figures. Through these essays, readers gain a deeper understanding of the intellectual and cultural landscape of 19th-century America. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
