The author (editor) of these 151 pages is Joy Johansen but her material is based on notes left by her husband Anthony Jo Johansen - a Master Mariner. Jo was at sea at age 16 during WWII. These stories follow him from Leith to Truro to the Panama Canal. From the Thousand Islands to King George Dock in Hull. He is sailing on vessels as small as 12 feet and as large as the ocean-going Samwinged. Jo was born in England, of Norse heritage, and lived (until his passing in 2011) in Ontario. B/W photographs assist text. Cond : Paper wrapper is a light grey-green with black lettering. Spine is black with white letters. Front cover illustration is of Jo (colour photo) using a sextant for navigation. Volume is tight, bright, square, and clean in ALL aspects. No names, nor marks. Giftable ! ! Quote (p. 47) : " I was totally surprised at this, because Curly was an experienced A.B. (Able Seaman) and had probably steered various ships for more hours than O had eaten cooked dinners. I still hold that he was pulling a fast one on me, although of course ._._._. ." Size: 8vo.
