Plates in both volumes are inserted after preliminaries. A beautiful set. An account of the journey made by Johann Baptist von Spix and Dr. C. F. Phil von Martius through Brazil between 1817 and 1820. The two scientists were commissioned by the King of Bavaria to explore central and northern Brazil, recording their observations on the flora, fauna, geology, and anthropology of the region.
