These were the three years when she wrote her masterpiece, "The Waves". We follow her struggle to bring this most difficult of her novels to completion, rewriting it three times, interrupted by illness and unwanted visitors, at Rodmell, Sussex, and at her house in Bloomsbury. In spite of her concentration on the book, she led an active life. She continued to meet old friends like Roger Fry, Lytton Strachey, T. S. Eliot, Desmond McCarthy, Vita Sackvillle-West and Ottoline Morrell, and made several new ones, of which the most important was the composer, Ethel Smyth.' (Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper) ***First printing of the true first edition in very good condition. The individually published "Letters of Virginia Woolf" are quite hard to find now in collectable condition.
