Condition: Nuevo.

Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition 1st Printing. BOOK: Spine Bumped; Light Shelf Rub to Boards; Spine Slightly Cocked; Moderate Yellowing Due to Age. DUST JACKET: Repaired; Moderately Creased; Moderately Chipped; In Archival Quality Jacket Cover. Pungent reflections on leading a life of fulfillment by the authors of Happiness Begins Before Breakfast. EDITED AND WITH FOREWORD BY: Gilbert Reade. JACKET DESIGN BY: Czeslaw Z. Banasiewicz. CONTENTS: PART I A Many-Hued Palette; PART II Ribbons of Light; PART III Brushes Dipped in Gold; PART IV There's a Silver Lining; PART V Our Own Arch of Triumph. SYNOPSIS: Just remember: in order to complain about growing old one must live that long! So say Harry and Joan Mier in just one of their sparkling, spritely observations on living life with peace of mind and happiness. The truth about life's foibles is viewed here with a refreshing succinctness that is never wise-acre, strutting or ostentatious. It is immediately obvious that these writers have developed their lives into something golden and inspiring. But they are realists, not romantics: Will you be a thinker or a sitter? Heads you win, Tails you lose! Or . . . For the traffic of troublesome thoughts make your mind a thoroughfare . . . not a parking lot. Throughout this book you will be aware of a contagious zest for people and life. The philosophy is simple: Every person has within him somewhere the ability to pull out of life genuine satisfaction. Harry and Joan Mier have obviously done this for themselves and have managed to help many others to do it (see author note). It is virtually impossible, after reading the warm and witty jewels between these covers, to keep from making an enthusiastic beginning at your own individual rainbow. Harry Mier, an eminently successful business executive, was a founding partner in a dynamic marketing and promotion enterprise which developed one of the world's glamorous cosmetics firms. Now retired, he and Mrs. Mier, herself a former practicing attorney-at-law, continue to lend their interest and vitality to numerous worthy civic and charitable activities through agencies and organizations devoted to human welfare. Sharing a happy marriage and a variety of mutual interests, collaborative efforts come easily to the Miers. Through their Harry and Joan Mier Foundation they established Camp Hess Kramer, a 110-acre youth camp just north of Malibu, California. More recently, in the same area, they founded another oceanside camp, a low-altitude haven for crippled children further handicapped by cardiac and respiratory conditions. Donated to the Crippled Children's Society of Los Angeles County, this special facility is known as Camp Joan Mier. Building Our Own Rainbows is their third book of pithy observations: the first, If the Shoe Fits, appeared in 1959; the second, Happiness Begins Before Breakfast, was published in 1962 and is now in its fourth printing. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.…
