A loose remake of the 1937 film "The Hurricane," based on the 1936 novel by James Norman Hall and Charles Nordhoff. A painter falls in love with an island chief. Her father, a US Navy Captain, arrests the man because he disapproves of their relationship. Set in the island of Alava, shot on location in Bora Bora. 9.75 x 8 inches. Near Fine. Weldon 1996.

Loosely based on John Ford's 1937 film, which was in turn based on the 1936 novel by James Norman Hall and Charles Nordhoff. A doomed romance between a Samoan High Chief and a young American painter, the daughter of the patrician naval governor of the island. Set on the fictional island of Alaya in American Samoa, shot on location in Bora Bora. 8 x 9.75 inches. Three Near Fine, with light wear to the corners, three Very Good plus, with a few one-inch tears and faint creasing to the corners.

Final Draft script for the 1974 film. Laid in are six blue revision pages dated 2/26/73. Based on the 1942 novel "The Stranger" by Lillian Bos Ross. Later re-released under the title, "For Better, For Worse." Gene Hackman stars as a rural rancher who sends away for a mail-order bride, looking for an extra ranch hand. His headstrong bride, played by Liv Ullman, is a tough bargain, and the two eventually fall in love through shared hardship and growing respect. An early effort of screenwriter Marc Norman, twenty-five years before he would receive an Oscar for his work on "Shakespeare in Love." Set in a remote region of the American West, shot on location in Big Sur, California. Orange titled wrappers, noted as FINAL on the front wrapper, dated February 26, 1973. Distribution page present, with receipt intact. Title page present, dated 2/26/73, noted as FINAL, with credits for screenwriter Marc Norman. 113 leaves, with last page of text numbered 111. First edition. 124-page unproduced screenplay dated April 1974. Xerox copy of typed script printed on rectos only; brad-bound in red card covers with "The Defence" handwritten on front cover and bottom page edge. Cullingford is the pseudonym of mystery writer Constance Lindsay Taylor, and Troell is the Swedish director whose 1971 film, "The Emigrants," was nominated for an Academy Award. About very good with light stains to covers and pages a little aged. Scarce to rare.

A very fine copy of the poster for the Italian release of the first of two films based on Vilhelm Moberg's "The Emigrant Novels", directed by Jan Troell. The film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1972, and also the prize for Best Actress (Liv Ullmann).
