Very Good+; fading to cloth at head and foot of spine and top edge of covers; slight soil/stain to top edge of pages, but only as seen with the book closed; slight cocking to spine; foxing (offsetting from acidic paper items saved between pages) to front…pastedown, flyleaf, and two pages in TOC; some old-book odor; else Fine. Hinges sound, pages clean and bright except as noted. In a Fair dust jacket; large and small tears, chips, divots, tanning, soil, stains and scuffs; in an archival clear plastic sleeve. First Edition. Book is not signed (it appeared two years after McCormick's death), but laid in are two typewritten notes on NY Times letterhead, signed by Anne O'Hare McCormick, to Miss Else Strom, a Swedish journalist who worked as a correspondent in Washington for the newspaper Aftontidningen in Stockholm. They are dated June 30, 1948 and March 24, 1949. Also there's a two-page typescript "Profile" of McCormick and a newspaper clipping of a review of this book. Book.
