Thus kaizen means change for the better. It implies small improvements done continuously. Kaizen technique is successfully implemented in Japanese industries. The success rate forced the western countries to take interest in the technique. But in India, only a few companies have tried this technique. Especially no literature and data is available on kaizen in the textile industry in India. So it was felt that there is a good scope to improve the textile industry by implementing kaizen technique with a small modification to suit Indian conditions. It was implemented at two mills in Tamilnadu. Kaizen teams were formed by choosing kaizens from staff and workers at all the levels. The regular meeting was conducted to get suggestions from the workers. Then they were implemented, even if they were very small in nature. This resulted in waste reduction quality improvement, increase productivity etc. The worker moral increased as they were given an opportunity to use their brainpower.

The strengthening mechanism of fibres involves the transfer of stress from the matrix to the fibre by interfacial shear or by interlock between the fibre and matrix. With the increased load, fibres share stress and matrix in tension until the matrix cracks, and then total stress is progressively transferred to fibres until the fibres are pulled out, or yield, or break in the tension. Following observations are made from the results obtained after experimentation.In case of pneumatic splicer, the splicing parameters viz. opening time, splicing pressure and splicing time do not show significant effect on tensile properties viz. SRS% and SBR%. As far as absolute values are concerned splicing air pressure shows notable increase in SRS% and SBR%.In pneumatic splicer, effect of splicing parameters on abrasion resistance is not statistically significant. The diameter of splice is significantly affected by splicing parameters. Increase in these codes (duration) decrease the diameter. but, it should not be the expense of reduction in SRS and SBR.The results for P/C blends yarns are similar to the 100% cotton yarn as discussed above, in case of pneumatic splicer. 128 pp. Englisch.
