Soft cover. Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Original publisher's beige wrapper with staple binding. No date, circa 1922. 4 3/4" x 6." Fifty-six pages, complete. Black and white reprinted photographs and one fold-out map of Jaipur, complete. Five additional pages of advertisements in the back for stores and services offered in Jaipur and surrounding areas. Back cover shows people riding two elephants with others in the foreground with the caption, "A Cook's Round the World Party in Jaipur." Pages are very clean and intact. Covers are clean but are a bit loose and have chipping at the spine. This is a travel book promoting tourism in the city of Jaipur, India. It is situated in the region of Rajputana (now Rajasthan). The book includes brief descriptions of Jaipur and its many points of interest such as Albert Hall and the Museum in the Ram Newas (or Niwas) Garden, Jaleb Chauk (or Chowk; a city square), the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Wind), an astronomical observatory, Jaipur Palace, and the Naya Ghat Gardens. There are also descriptions of Amber (or Amer), Jaipur's ancient settlement, and surrounding features such as the Gulta pass. There are several pages promoting the Jaipur Hotel with information about the establishment and testimonials. Excerpt from the front: "Jaipur. The largest city in Rajputana, is a unique specimen of mediaeval India, and a perfect picture of the Rajputana of the day. . The marked individuality of Jaipur, brimful of Oriental life and colour, is a valuable study. Here one sees everything most picturesque and characteristic.
