Stuart Hall en "El gran espectáculo hacia ninguna parte" habla de perpetuación del thatcherismo y de esta gran oportunidad perdida por el gobierno socialdemócrata. La igualdad es un objetivo que prácticamente ha desaparecido de los debates políticos. Will Hutton defiende que no hay que renunciar a ella. Richard Wilkinson nos adentra en su coste social: Las sociedades desiguales tienen menos salud, son más violentas y se aprecian menos a sí mismas. Ken Coates y Michael Barratt Brown rebaten punto por punto la Declaración Conjunta de Blair y Schroeder y demuestran con cifras y consideraciones las consecuencias sociales y la imparable concentración de la riqueza que la desregulación provoca. David Held opina que, más allá de la retórica, la globalización no es una fuerza de la naturaleza incontrolable e irresistible, sino obra del hombre y es hora de empezar a regularla. Antonio Polito emplaza a las izquierdas europeas a definir la política continental. Helen Wilkinson explica cómo después de los fuegos de artificio iniciales, la agenda política sigue marginando a la mujer, y Suzanne Moore muestra la utilización política de la cultura para dar una imagen de modernidad.
