Edition illustrated with compositions by Boris Artzybasheff: eight full-page color plates, including two double-page spreads, and several illustrations within the text in black and pink. Boris Artzybasheff (1899-1965) fled Soviet communism at the age of twenty to settle in New York. Author of illustrations for some fifty books and for advertisements for famous companies (Pan Am, Shell, Parker pens), he is also renowned for his contributions to various magazines; notably, he created more than two hundred covers for Time Magazine. Beautiful old world engraving illustrations. 103 pp. 8vo, publisher's blue cloth lettered in silver, with silver vignette on front panel. Tanning around page edges; and sunning to the edges of the cloth with spine faded; tight and sound. Some minor stains on a few pages. Missing frontispiece, minor graphite smudges on a few pages, discoloration on interior upper corners on several pages - see photos. Interior pages Good without missing page? Cover Fair with sunning?
