Delpire plante, eine Serie aus Fotobüchern zu machen, Encyclopédie essentielle, und verlegte 1963 den Band Les Allemands (Die Deutschen) mit Fotografien René Burris. In den USA erschien der Frank-Band 1959 in seiner bekannten, reduzierten Form mit dem Einleitungstext von Kerouac und dem Hauptaugenmerk auf Franks Fotografien. (Vgl.
