Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Presumed First Edition. No stated date but the introduction is date 1930. Presumed first edition from this date. 63pp. and 8 black and white illustrations. This is an exhilarating story of wanderings along the 1,780 mile course of the Danube, the Ancient highway from the East to Europe and route followed by migrating tribes and conquering Asiatic hordes into the West. The book is bound in the original cloth covered boards with black titling on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with fading to the bottom 3" of the spine and about 1/4" of the top of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper is brittle and is in good condition with shelf wear and light soiling and age-browning around the edges. The top edge is chipped with small pieces missing and up to about 1/2" is missing from around the top of the spine. The bottom 5" or so of the spine is missing and the front has been detached from the spine in the past and reattached with tape on the reverse. There are a few tears on the edges that have also been repaired on the reverse with tape and small pieces are missing from the top corners.
