Paper covered boards, the paper is red with a heavy gold repeat pattern to it, ivory marbled paper spine sections with gilt titles o…n the spines, Top page edges dyed red. Housed within plain ivory coloured card slipcase. The slipcase is worn, rubbed at the edges and dust darkened and one of the edges has split. Book conditions very good plus to near fine, spines slightly dust marked, there are darkened patches on the covers of the first two volumes, from handling it appears, other than this the condition is fine, the contents are exceptionally clean in all the four volumes. A very attractive set enhanced by the illustrations of Eric Fraser in volumes 1 and 3 and by Frank Martin in volumes 2 and 4. Eric Fraser and Frank Martin (illustrator).

Yellow cloth over boards for Ali Baba, red cloth for sleeping beauty, and green cloth for Ugly Duckling. Title pages all dated 1949. No date on copyright page of ALi Baba. Copyright page of Sleeping Beauty dated 1949. Copyright page of Ugly duc…kling dated 1942 and 1948. This edition consists of 2500 copies of which this is 2176. Ali Baba has 50 pages, Sleeping Beauty has 43 pages, and Ugly Duckling has 44 pages. Slipcase red with tan printed plate on spine. Black lettering on plate is neat and legible. Slipcase has wear along its edges as well as some staining across its boards. Top edge of slipcase partially separated from boards but still attached. Boards of all 3 volumes have been well protected by slipcase and remain quite tidy and clean. Small 1/4 inch spot of red discoloration at top left corner of front board of Ali Baba. Pages are also in excellent condition with full page color illustrations throughout. Text is tidy and legible. Bindings are strong and secure with no missing pages. Ali Baba signed on the editions page by illustrator Edward Ardizzone. Ugly Duckling signed on the editions page by illustrator Everett Gee Jackson and translator Jean Hersholt. No inscriptions.
