Weber's collage-style format is cool, casual, spontaneous, and has not aged one bit since 1986. That's because every image is erotically charged, gods - and goddesses - oozing with sex appeal. The Hollywood film stars are shown on holiday in snapshots. They include now-legendary figures like Frank Sinatra, Robert Mitchum, Warren Beatty, Elizabeth Taylor, Sal Mineo, and in a brilliant six-panel foldout, Montgomery Clift, Christopher Jones, John Wayne, Tab Hunter, Lauren Bacall, Elvis Presley, and Clint Eastwood. Bruce Weber mixed in "found" images from the underground, gay Physique Magazine as well as portraits of his writer/idols on holiday: Allen Ginsberg with his lifetime companion, Peter Orlovsky, and Paul and Jane Bowles with Truman Capote. All of Weber's own image gallery are of Hollywood types who would give any well-known star a run for his money, identified simply by their first names: Gerard, David, Greg, Shell, Robert, Justin, Claude, Mike, Carl, and Sasha (who gets the most coverage, wearing his signature polka-dot bikini briefs). Sasha is Sasha Mitchell, a Hollywood star-in-the-making by the time these photographs were taken.
