PERFECT CONDITION. NO rubbing. NO fading. Bright, clean, square and tight. Sharp corners. NO owner's name or bookplate. NO remainder mark. NOT a library discard. Fresh and crisp -- obviously never read. 1981. First Edition. Limited to 1,250 copies. Published at $150.00 The standard Derrydale Press annotated bibliography. Finely printed on Mohawk Superfine paper by The Stinehour Press. Over 80 illustrations printed by The Meriden Gravure Company. From the publisher: "In 1927, The Derrydale Press exploded like a meteor on the American Sporting Scene. When the Press was closed in 1942 it was to the dismay of sportsmen and bibliophiles alike. It had, however, left a brilliant legacy of fine sporting books and prints, plus a few items done privately which have set the standard in the field. No other publisher to date has equaled the output of Eugene V. Connett III's brainchild. Until now, there has never been a comprehensive bibliography of The Derrydale Press. This is not only the first book to list all of the Derrydale Press books, but it also includes all of the books produced by Mr. Connett both prior to Derrydale and afterward. In all, there are 242 titles listed chronologically in precise bibliographical style. Photographic illustrations are lavishly interspersed. 'Points,' DeLuxe editions, spurious items and the degree of rarity are fully covered. All of the authors and artists as well as more than 300 persons associated with The Derrydale Press are listed. There are brief biographies, portraits and facsimile signatures of the major contributors." Also includes: EUGENE V. CONNETT III: A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY by Stephen Ferguson; EUGENE V. CONNETT AND HIS USE OF DEVICES; ERNEST R. GEE AND HIS CONTRIBUTIONS; THE PAIN AND PLEASURE OF DERRYDALE COLLECTING by F. Phillips Williamson; THE ANGLER'S CLUB OF NEW YORK; etc. Appendix A: THE CARE OF BOOKS. Appendix B: BUYING AND SELLING. Short title index. Subject index. Bound in the original gilt-stamped red cloth. Complete with a pristine blue paper-covered board slipcase with title printed in bright white on the spine. 7.5" wide by 10.5". First Edition, Limited to 1,250 copies. Hardcover. Tips sharp, no writing inside Twelve pages are crisp and tight, no rust on staples. Not a numbered copy. Book for book, the Borzoi Books for Sportsmen rank among the most important and influential sporting books published in America. This would be true, if for no other reason than for the books of Ray Bergman and Jack O'Connor. There are, however, other reasons: Russell Annabel, Bert Ciaflin, Van Campen Heilner, Ray Holland, John Alden Knight, Clyde Ormond and Illustrators such as: Edgar Burke, Arthur Fuller, Lawrence Goadby, Frederick Hilderbrandt and Lynn Bogue Hunt to name a few. The Borzoi Books for Sportsmen were published by Alfred A. All of the Van Nostrand Sporting Books were issued with dust jackets. In all cases, Connett's role in the book is stated on the verso of the title page as is the state of the edition. Many of the Van Nostrand Sporting Books, especially the sailing books offered through the Sailing Book Club, were issued in numerous edition. The prices listed in this guide are for first editions in very fine condition, dust jackets present. Books in very fine condition should show no faults whatsoever, no matter how small the defect or defects may be. Signed.…
