Externally covers are grubby, covers slightly canted with blemish to front cover caused by water mark. Internally tanning to paste downs and end papers but free of marks and inscriptions.

This is the first printing of the Sphere paperback edition including the preface which Henry Williamson added to his original 1935 tribute (which is also included). There was an earlier paperback edition published by Consul Books, World Distributors, in 1964. The spine has fading to the author's name and the publishers logo along with some brown marking. Light edge wear to the covers. Browning to the page edges. 5 letters have been stamped to the first page but the pages are otherwise unmarked.
