Reprint in two volumes of the 'Everyman's Library' edition (Nos. 489 & 490). xxviii, 642pp.; vi, 738pp. plus a 4-page selected list of other Everyman's Library books. Benjamin Jonson (1573?-1637) was one of the greatest English dramatists and a writer of prose, verse, satire and criticism. He was also the first poet laureate. This edition of his Plays is complete in two volumes. There is an introduction by Professor F.E. Schelling and a glossary at the end of each volume. The books are uniformly bound in the original black boards with gold titling on the spines. The books are in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The dustwrappers (art by A. R. Fryer) have some shelf wear, mostly to volume 1. The wrapper for volume 1 has a tear of about 1" on the bottom of the rear spine edge and a tear of about 1/2" on the bottom rear corner and there is a crease between the two tears. The tears have been repaired on the reverse with tape. The front flap of volume 2 has been price-clipped and the flap of volume 1 has traces of a remove price-sticker. Both wrappers are in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.…
