Paperback: 7" x 4½". Condition: Very Good: Light signs of wear. Cover Art: Julek Heller / Illustrations: Pauline Baynes (illustrator). 1965 Edition. © 1953: 6th in the 'Narnia' series of books. 16th printing of 1965 edition:- Synopsis: 'Far from here in the land of Narnia there lives an aged king. He has no heir because his only son was stolen from him many years ago and no one in Narnia knows where that prince went or whether he is alive. But he is. I lay on you this command, that you seek this lost prince until either you have found him and brought him to his father's house, or else died in the attempt, or else gone back into your own world'. Thus Aslan sends Jill Pole and Eustace Scrubb, unhappy pupils at a school called Experiment House, off on a journey which takes them out of Narnia into the ruined city of the ancient giants. Their companion is a charmingly doleful Marsh-wiggle called Puddleglum and their enemies include the Green Witch and the giants of Harfang, whose cook has a book with a recipe beginning: 'MAN. This elegant little biped has long been valued as a delicacy.' Several times, through laziness or tiredness or magic enchantments, they forget Aslan's instructions and nearly muff the whole business, but in the end they find their Prince, cut him loose from the silver chair, and together fight their way back to Narnia, and then back to the school, where they find that strength and confidence to defeat an entire army of bullies:- (original cost £0.50).
