Pages clean, lightly tanned, with occasional foxing. Deckled edges. Some pages uncut. Minor amount of writing in pencil on endpapers. DJ has edge wear, darkened spine, with title in calligraphy. William Somervile [Somerville] (1675-1742) was an English poet whose work, "The Chace," pioneered an early English georgic. Designed and printed by Richard W. Ellis, The Georgian Press, and published in an edition of 375 numbered copies, of which 325 are for America and 50 for England. This is number 325. Poem originally published in 1735, with engravings by Bewick published with the poem in 1802. Engravings; 11.25" tall; 118 pages. Illustrated by Thomas Bewick (illustrator).

"The late eminent antiquary, Mr. Joseph Ritson, collected, with much labour and care, all the historical and poetical remains he could discover relating to that celebrated character, Robin Hood, which he published in 1795, in two small 8vo. volumes.
