Exquisite German-language edition of James Fenimore Cooper's "The Last of the Mohicans," magnificently illustrated throughout with numerous b/w drawings by Max Slevogt, renowned German Impressionist painter and illustrator. Minor damp-staining along upper edge of front cover. Moderate rubbing along edges of binding. Text in German, gothic script. Binding in overall fair to good, interior in very good condition.

Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good binding. Max Slevogt (illustrator). Limited edition of 250 copies. Produced near the end of World War I, this German artist's book was illustrated by Max Slevogt. Slevogt was a well known German impressionist painter known for painting in the plein air style Cortez's Conquest of Mexico, translated into German by Mario Spiro.~~One of 250 copies.; tan cloth binding with Slevogt watercolor reproduction on front board; Text written in Fraktur lettering. Small closed tear at bottom of leaf 7,8 with small stain. Light stain at top of spine at rear cover; slipcase has some toning; tears to the edges but is holding well. Very Good binding.
