Hussein Hamza Bindagji, lecturer in Geography at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, is known for his Atlas, geographical map, and the series of city maps of Saudi Arabia he produced in the 1980s with cartography by Oxford University Press. The recto features the main map on a scale of 1/2.25M, colour blocked for elevation, with details on terrain, internal boundaries, routes, railways, oil pipelines etc. The verso features 3 maps showing population density, and administrative divisions at Emirate and sub-Emirate levels, with extensive indexes and a table with area and population data by Emirate. Colour blocking identifies the built up area as of 1978, Suq or shopping areas, parks and gardens, cultivated land, and named buildings or areas.
