Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Not Issued. First Thus. Facsimile reprint edition of 1975. Originally published in one volume by Everts, Peck & Richards, 1886. No. 61 of an edition limited to 500 copies. x,1204 pp. Accompanied by every-name index volume specifically compiled for this facsimile republication. 199 pp. Both volumes bound in burgundy textured boards, lightly rubbed at extremities, light surface wear. Scarce reprint edition of the initial edition of Montgomery's history of Berks County, later revised and expanded into two volumes (1909). However, this edition includes considerable material not found in that later production, and the Berks completist will certainly want both publications. Very useful reference tool, not subject to the limitations imposed by the fragility of the original printing exposed by repeated use. Ideal for local historical society collections. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book.
