A rather beautiful production of this hybrid cookbook and neighborhood history, the neighborhood being Nomad, the area centered by Madison Square Park and the Flatiron Building being its most conspicuous symbol. The primary book -- the cookbook -- also serves as a clamshell box essentially for the more diminutive cocktail book, which has a dedicated well in the back of larger volume. A book within a book, quite literally. The primary book/box is 4to. 27.5 by 21 cm. 317 pp. The pages are of a thicker paper stock. With also a double folded map of the neighborhood housed in a library-like pocket pasted onto the FEP. The cocktail book is 12mo. 17 by 12 cm. 211 pp. The cookbook is replete with abundant color photographs, both of the revived neighborhood but also of the dishes. The cocktail book also comes with ample color photos, but of a more modest scale. Our copy is almost pristine, with the only defect we would consider rather trivial -- the lower rear corner has been pressed -- not exactly the standard bumping. One could regard it as an oversized ding, made less conspicuous by the solid black cloth. Since the issue is one that one not infrequently will find in new books on bookstore shelves, we are comfortable deeming the book "Like New" Cloth. Primary book hardcover, while cocktail book is semi-hardcover, with limp boards, but the same black cloth.
