No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Beverley: W. B. Johnson, printer, Market-Place, (1834). Rare and apparently unrecorded political broadside printed at Beverley in support of the Honourable Charles Langdale, Liberal MP for Beverley and one of the first English Roman Catholics to sit in Parliament after Catholic Emancipation. Letterpress broadside on orange paper, approximately 27.7 × 20.8 cm. Reprinting an extract from the Hull Observer, the broadside announces a public dinner at Beverley to celebrate the anniversary of Langdale's election. The text praises him as an "honest Representative" and urges renewed support "without any base inducement", with striking language against electors selling "the Cause of their Country" for the "accursed thing". It is a vivid piece of Reform-era provincial electioneering, linking Beverley, Hull reformers, Catholic political representation and anti-corruption rhetoric. Printed by W. B. Johnson, Market-Place, Beverley. No copy traced institutionally or commercially. Apparently unrecorded. Single sheet. Old folds, light creasing, slight toning and very minor marginal wear. Remnants of adhesive verso. Trimmed to left and upper margin. A few small handling marks and minor surface imperfections, but the sheet remains bright, complete and unusually fresh for a posted political broadside. Very good condition overall.
