From the papers of Arthur Allchin. The Athenaeum reported in 1883 that 'Mr. Arthur Allchin, who was an intimate friend of the late Hablot K. Browne, has written an article on his life and work which will appear shortly in the Century Magazine, and will be copiously illustrated from original drawings by " Phiz."'.

Set Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 6 volumes. 4to. Illustrated boards and gilt lettering on spine. Bumping to corners and joint ends of covers. Wear through cloth at fore edges and spine ends of covers, with milder shelfwear to edges. Some tearing and recession to cloth spine ends at varying length to all volumes, typically more severe to spine heads of volumes with the most receded measuring approx. 1-inch from height of boards. Toning to margins of leaves and scratched and moderately rubbed covers. Some spotting and a surface tear to front boards of volumes 3 & 4. Uneven spotting and toning to e.p.s., with faint and infrequent spotting occuring throughout leaves. Dog-ear creasing to upper forecorner of f.f.e.p. of volume 3. Starting to front and rear hinges.
