Né en 1527 à Châlons-sur-Saône, mort en 1591, le jurisconsulte calviniste Hugues Doneau fut à la suite d'Alciat un représentant éminent de l'humanisme juridique, insistant particulièrement sur l'établissement d'un système juridique cohérent. Professeur à Toulouse, il y croisera Jacques Cujas. Les indications en italien du privilège indique que cet ouvrage s'insère dans un projet de réédition des "Commentari delle Leggi di Ugone Donelli" en douze volumes in-folio (on sait qu'une telle édition sera publiée à partir de 1762, à Lucques). Bon état (reliure un peu frottée avec qq. mouill., petit accroc avec mq. en page de titre, qq. traces d'usage mais bon exemplaire par ailleurs). Langue: Latin.

Hugues Doneau (1507 - 1591) studied law at Toulouse, specialized in Roman law and became rector of Heidelberg University. He also taught at Leiden University.
