The libretto was written by Hugo von Hofmannsthal ; the modern story adaptation was done by Anthony Burgess; there is an Introduction by George H. Marek. "The Metropolitan Opera Classics Library" was produced under the general editorship of Robert Sussman Stewart. The copy here presented, previously owned (and reinforced by that owner along its edges with tape), is the 1982 Little, Brown and Company First Edition in Paperback format (issued in Boston simultaneously with the hardcover and a Special Edition). CONDITION -- VERY GOOD -- This is a previously owned book which remains clean and serviceable, with the following particulars noted :: EXTERIOR : Most clearly, the previous owner attached clear tape at intervals along the spine and edges - likely meant as reinforcement against the wear of reading . This was neatly effected and stillcrisp - but it is there. Else the covers display moderate surface rub. The spine is not creased. Text-block edges are clean. BINDING : Solid INTERIOR : Clean and unmarked throughout.
